cpthornВчора на приміському потязі з'їздив в Камакуру, точніше в район станції Оофуна перед Камакурою. Там є величезна 25-метрова буддистська статуя Каннон, яку почали будувати ще у 1934 році, але закінчили тільки у 1960. Всередині статуї знаходиться невеликий храм. Оскільки статуя знаходиться на пагорбі, то звідти також відкривається гарний вид на місто.
Yesterday I took a train to see the giant 25-meter concrete statue of Kannon in Kamakura (Oofuna station). The construction of this statue had commenced in 1934, but then the WW2 started, the construction was significantly delayed, so the giant Kannon in Oofuna was completed only in 1960. There is a small Buddhist temple inside the statue. Kannon is standing on a hill and you can see the city from the top.
